2ndGen Social Media: What is your fave?
I don’t endorse or even enjoy any of these sites, but I occasionally explore them to get different perspectives and to escape the non-stop high school food fight of Facebook
Very obviously, the first-generation “social media” websites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube are so bought into specific Pharma-Political agendas that their censorship makes them paradoxically anti-social. Collectively we are long overdue for some better alternatives to their hegemony, just as we are with Amazon’s commercial dominance.
I trust that most of us have tried some of the 2ndGen sites; my experience with these sites has been mostly disappointing because 1) their interfaces are cumbersome, or 2) their reach is very limited, or 3) they have obvious political bias which makes them echo chambers for slanted perspectives and mud-slinging.
What’s your favorite 2ndGen social media website?
Before I list my personal pages, I must say that I don’t endorse or even enjoy any of these sites, but I occasionally explore them to get different perspectives and to escape the non-stop high school food fight of Facebook; LinkedIn became too insulting and demeaning with their nonstop infantile censorship (“obedience training for adults”) although I had a few good connections there.
Here are the few accounts that I maintain and occasionally visit:
Telegram: t.me/DrAlexVasquez
Telegram is a messaging platform that functions as social media because of all the groups and relatively censor-less interaction. I post links, videos and occasional items of news: https://t.me/DrAlexVasquez
GETTR.COM/user/healthy_thinking_w_drv
I just joined this website in August 2022 so I can’t say that I have any strong opinions about it with so little experience except that their interface/system of posting is very easy to use. I’ll probably take a look at this website every once in a while just to get some different perspectives but I’m not going to post any original work there – only links back to HealthyThinking.Substack.com which is the main outlet that I use.
Facebook.com/InflammationMastery and my other FB pages
I pretty much can’t stand Facebook anymore but I used it for many years and have created maybe at least 20 different pages with a total following of somewhere around 35,000 to 40,000. Lately they’ve made many retarding changes to the interface of specific public pages (ie, the “Pages Experience”) such that the website is very cumbersome now so I will use it with progressively less frequency, and with no original posts but again only linking back here to HealthyThinking.Substack.com.
Here is a partial list of my larger and somewhat useful pages:
Dr Alex Vasquez 's Inflammation Mastery facebook.com/InflammationMastery = my main page
International College of Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine facebook.com/IntCollHumNutrFunctMed *see ICHNFM below
International Conference on Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine facebook.com/ICHNFM * I started this page in 2013 when I was organizing a major international conference. Later I used both of these pages for announcements related to books and continuing education courses for healthcare professionals.
Antiviral Nutrition facebook.com/AntiviralNutrition
Migraine Headaches, Hypothyroidism, and Fibromyalgia facebook.com/MigraineHypothyroidismFibromyalgia
Alternate video platforms to avoid censorship in places like YouTube: youtube.com/c/DrAlexVasquezICHNFM/videos I am shadow-banned on this page so I hardly use it except as an archive of politically-correct excerpts
Sites that aren’t worth the hassle (IMO)
minds.com/dralexvasquez Supremely boring interface
mewe.com/i/alexvasquez Was horrible so I have not even entered my account in over a year but maybe by now they’ve made improvements
healthythinkingwithdrv.locals.com Semi-popular site but I don’t care too much for it
medium.com/@dralexvasquez I completely forgot about this site and haven’t touched it in 2 years; I think it’s probably censored and does not allow too much original thought
I can't stand CIA's fb or instagram either! I like Gab, Telegram, and Truth
It gives me shivers when I see Metaverse employment recruitment posters on the Tube in London. I totally feel we are living in a badly acted Sci-fi movie at times. I follow people on Telegram but just use it to gain truthful information and access to groups that are non-narrative. I haven't heard of Truth ,I'll check it out. Has anyone used Odyssey ?? I heard it was an alternative to Youtube but I am not very techy. One thought that always occurs to me in this ever more technology obsessed world is that when it doesn't work ie your Insta account gets hacked, the machine at passport control rejects you, noone has a clue what to do. If I had a pound/dollar/euro for everytime someone said to me ... 'sorry our system doesn't work, is slow etc ....begs the question , i thought this technology was meant to make life quicker and easier wasnt it ? ... it just seems to slow things down and relinquish any use of an actual brain or common sense.. I constantly feel like I am waiting for a mammoth system failure to happen .. banking ? Thoughts ? .... Feel like Im turning into a prepper!!
