For knowledge to be functional, that knowledge must be accessible. For that knowledge to be accessible, it should be organized. In order to organize useful ideas, I commonly use acronyms, which are abbreviations made from the first letter(s) of each word in a phrase, and commonly this abbreviation results in a easily remembered word or sound.
How to repair social/interpersonal injury:
For the 4 components of an adult reparation, I use the word “safety” written as “saf-T” or “sAf-TT” or “sAf-T”which represents the following:
[WORD—SORRY] Simply say you’re sorry: No drama, no qualifications—"I am sorry for what I did” or “I am sorry for my part in this.” This is a child-level apology and is insufficient by itself.
[WORD—ACCOUNTING] Accounting for accountability: Each trespass is listed with its consequence. Not simply “I was 30 minutes late” but “I was 30 minutes late in picking you up and as a result you missed your flight which cost you $500 and you missed your once-in-a-lifetime family event.” This helps to heal the wound by showing the hurt person that their injury and the wrongdoing have been fully witnessed. Feedback from the injured person is wholly appropriate here to help the aggressor/perpetrator see/hear/understand the consequences of his/her actions.
[WORD—FUTURE] Moving forward to a better future: As we/they say in Landmark Education, all relationships exist as a representation of their present and future. The updated/modified present and future have to be communicated. “In the future, I/we will do things differently so that things go better.” These words are simply an empty promise and pacifier if not accompanied by action in the following section.
[ACTION—TANGIBLE action from TWO perspectives (both parties must agree) with at least TWO components (prospective/future + retrospective/past)] What real/tangible actions will be taken to prevent this from recurring? What actions will be taken to repair the damage—financial, emotional, social, etc? Are the proposed reparations acceptable and sufficient for the injured/victim/recipient? Is the reparation being requested appropriate (neither too big nor too small) for the situation, and is the perpetrator/violator capable of providing it? Note that the injured/victim/recipient must also be reasonable and receptive in bringing closure to this event.
