LinkedIn (tied to BIG TECH and paid by BIG PHARMA) is The Gulag Archipelago of social media for professionals, imposing arbitrary censorship, penalization, and disappearance
LinkedIn functions to censor thinkers, filter ideas, impose arbitrary “community standards” and ensure that the managerial class is thinking only the correct and approved thoughts.
Thanks – I agree. I think all of those social websites are just total garbage right now. I just use them to bring people back here for the details that would otherwise get censored. I have a few friends that I talk with (including my BF from high school) but otherwise it is a waste of time... and has a bad vibe. I wish that someone would make a better alternative. Same with our need for alternatives to Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, etc. Musk should be making a new Twitter instead of thinking of buying the old one, etc.
I applaud you for speaking out and I'm sorry this is happening to you and to many others. For years, I've kept a rather token LinkedIn profile and maintained a number of social media accounts, but as a semi-retired writer/editor, I hadn't been all that active on the platform until early 2020 when I discovered that experienced researchers and medical professionals were posting articles about COVID-19 there. Unfortunately, I soon learned that qualified, hardworking professionals were being censored not only for offering facts and genuine solutions, but for mere opinions. Users like me were also being 'restricted' when we re-posted those offerings, or posted related items from other sources. I noticed the same treatment was given to political posts and anything having to do with possible election fraud.... I'm currently unable to access my account due to another 'community standards' violation. If I could, I'd have already closed it.
This morning, I sent an email to request that they do so, and asked for confirmation of the action and confirmation that the contents of my profile and personal information have been removed from the site. Regardless of what or if I hear back from them, I'd never go through another so-called 'account recovery' process. Like I said, there are other platforms...
Thank you, Cynthia, for your kind message. I agree with your experience that the LinkedIn experience really does NOT provide value, that plus the fact that they really make the members submit to arbitrary rules and regulations.
It is a boring and very "nonplus"* experience in addition to the fact that it requires submission and compliance to undefined rules.
*one of my fave words, but hard to use because it is a verb and a noun instead of an adjective: nonplus: To put at a loss as to what to think, say, or do; bewilder. To cause to feel indifferent or bored. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nonplus
How I got banned. And i refuse to re-engage. Don’t need their trainings, don’t need the connections

PS: Even with my 5000+ "connections" on LinkedIn, I have absolutely never gotten anything out of it, professionally speaking.
I’m glad I “found” a few voices to follow on substack and telegram from linked in, but otherwise 100% agree! Waste of time.

All the best to you, sir.
