During my teens and early 20s growing up in Houston Texas, I was very fortunate to have some “internationally awake” friends whose parents had escaped Pinochet’s dictatorship; these friends helped me gain some political insight through conversations and also a casual movie night when we saw Manufacturing Consent at the 1939 art deco River Oaks Theater. Here, I am outlining and providing access to the 1992 documentary film by Canadian filmmakers Mark Achbar and Peter Wintonick based on the 1988 book by Noam Chomsky and Edward S. Herman.
