One good book can change your life for the better; this is one of those books
A good book can change your life forever, for the better. Imagine spending some $10 or $20 and a few hours over a few days to completely improve the quality of your life, your ideas, your relationships and your work.
Books/articles/videos —sources of quality information— are the most cost-effective means for making real and durable improvements in your mind, life, abilities—the fabric and tapestry of your daily experience.
Of all the books that I have previously listed as either my favorites1 and/or books that I consider to be of major importance for society2, among the top five books or perhaps the very top in terms of 1) accessibility, 2) personal relevance for the greatest majority of people, 3) immediate practicality of implementation for improvement in quality of life, communication, thought-feelings [eg, psychoepistimology3], and 4) wide scope of application (eg, intrapersonal, interpersonal, occupational) is Dr Nathaniel Branden’s Six Pillars of Self-Esteem.
I paid for it 4x
I purchased the audiobook version (from iTunes) of this book in 2008 simply to try it out and to have something to listen to while biking or doing yardwork; I was immediately impressed by the clarity and usefulness of the author’s message.
Enthusiastic, I purchased a paper copy of the book for my mother, and
I bought a paper copy of the book for myself.
Eventually purchased another audiobook version of same in a different platform (from Audible).
I used this book as required reading for a graduate-level course that I co-taught in Health Psychology
The best way to improve healthcare for tens of thousands of patients is to teach good techniques to their healthcare providers; hence, I used this book as required reading for a graduate-level course that I co-taught in Health Psychology so that the students would benefit directly then their future clients would benefit secondarily.
You can buy the audio or paper version of the book
The paper and audio versions are both widely available from many bookstores in various formats: 1) paper book, 2) digital book, 3) audiobook. Of course, try to support independent bookstores whenever possible.

You can access the audio or “paper” versions of the book for free
Of course, I always try to support artists and writers for their work and talent.
Dr Nathaniel Branden died in 2014 at the age of 84.4
Especially for people who do not have access to a local bookstore, archived copies of Six Pillars are available, for example from archive.org/details/TheSixPillarsOfSelfEsteem_201811/page/n1/mode/2up.
The original “paper” version of the book contains *more information* and more sections than does the audiobook version.
Here are two additional documents in PDF: 1) a summary, and 2) an article by the author:
