Key vulnerabilities that psychopaths (demagogues, politicians) look for in victims:
Racism, religion = dedicated ideas are easy to exploit; all they have to do is offer agreement and say “We are doing this in the name of our race/God”
Example of how racism is used in politics as a tool: "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you." U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson1
Loneliness = all they have to do is offer friendship
Overly honest, intellectual, naive, inexperienced = streetwise manipulators will beat you on the streets
Insecurity, poverty, dysfunctional family = they will offer trust and tell you "I will take care of you" or "Everything will be all right."
Subject ignorance: None of us can be experts in everything, and the areas of our ignorance are our weaknesses when someone wants to exploit our relative lack of knowledge. Yes, this is an excellent book, read it when it first came out to help my mother deal with my 2 sinister sisters. I asked her if she knew anyone she could relate it to and Bingo! Got the correct answer. The book you may also want to check out is Dodging Energy Vampires. I found it even more fascinating.
