Hi Dr. Vasquez. What do you suggest doing if you’re on vacation but you’re not mentally-present because your mind is on school, work or other “productive” things?
1. Most important is probably to realize that you need to be on vacation because your internal programs have become autonomized/automated. The disconnect from your current vacation is evidence that you need to be on vacation.
2. Another possibility is that you have ideas that need attention.
3. Good solution is to write it out on paper which will satisfy both 1 and 2 above. Get it out of your head so you can 1) enjoy the vacation, and 2) give respect to your ideas.
4. If the ideas are not worth writing, then they are just head-spinning, and more evidence that you need to disconnect from work/school.
