DrV, I thank you for all of your work. I wondered if you would point me in the right direction on the topic of Kyleena IUD. My young adult daughter has been advised to have it implanted and, when researching, we can’t differentiate between corporate propaganda and real research when trying to find effects. If you know of someone knowledgeable in the world of women’s contraceptions, hormone effects, etc, I would greatly appreciate it. 🙏

These days, most research is corporate propaganda, as you've noticed. I am curious as to why a doctor would advise use of Kyleena IUD specifically -- is it for a specific purpose other than the obvious of contraception? It looks like a somewhat reasonable option, again, per their advertising: https://www.kyleenahcp.com/about-kyleena/efficacy?hcp=true I have asked a fellow MD if she has any knowledge or contacts on this

Thank you for your reply and for asking your fellow MD. No specific reason. Maybe they get a better kickback on this one. My concern is long-term/short-term/any-term effects of the hormones released by the device. I have always stayed away from things like that so I'm not very knowledgeable about it. We thought the copper iud would be best since it does not have hormones but is effective by just its placement. But they made it big causing it to be more painful for someone who has not carried a baby.

Torri Hudson ND in Portland Oregon and her colleagues at her clinic would certainly be some of the most informed on this topic. They specialize in women’s health but from outside of the medical monopoly/paradigm

Hi Dr V thanks so much for the pointers/advice on renal care. I start watching my ph. Question on the low carb Mediterranean nutrition protocol- Do I base my protein amount on my actual overweight poundage or on the desired weight? So if I base it on my current weight, it’s 130 grams of protein daily.... how do I figure the fat & carbs grams to use as a guideline? If I focus on low carbs, say 75 grams to lose weight.... how do I actually eat enough vegs, fruits & nuts to get the phytonutrients, etc? Or bananas for potassium? Do I let the carbs creep up and the fat go down? What is best approach? Thanks! I understand not to be strict on the exact numbers, but some pointers would be great.

I guess I’m wondering what is the hierarchy of focus? Is Low carb count more important than eating the fruits & veggies?

And with the math ...protein at 130 (30%) and carbs at 75 (17%) is fat at 100 grams (52%) too much?

Hi Dr V. I haven’t forgotten about your generous offer to look at my blood work, I have a few results to send you. My mom died at 90 of pancreatic cancer Dec 20, so I’m working on her will and dealing with my brothers who are out-of-their-minds demanding their small inheritance... and of course I am stealing from them... sigh. Anyway, I’ll follow up with you when things settle down. Thanks!

I mean they claim I am stealing from them!
